The LoFff drawing contest - March

The month of march is over, and I have to make a selection out of all the beautiful drawings we received this month. They touch me, these little pieces of art... made with love, care and passion - just like I design my collection! I don't know who is going to win yet, but it is definitely going to be one of these.

Zeta is wearing one of my favourite cardigans of this collection

Evi has been thinking out of the box - and giving all the animals sunglasses to protect them in the African sun
Zeta reallly loves LoFff - she made 2 drawings in one month!
Yente looks so sweet in pink, and added some beautiful extra decoration to her drawing
And Julie made a great necklace that was attached to the drawing.

Well, you understand it is hard to choose?

love from Jo.

New Delhi part 3 - Holi celebration

I promised to show some pics of the Holi celebration which we had at the hotel in New Delhi..
So here they are. And you may notice that some people are better (or more fanatic) about playing Holi than others (and if you look up Holi at google images you can see the real thing).
But anyway, it was a fantastic day.

New Delhi - part 2

Just in case you're interested - I made a movie of our office in Delhi.
It is situated in Kalkaji, Nehru enclave, and it is about the quietest spot I know in Delhi. Normally, wherever you are, there is traffic noises, honking, cars, and more noise. Here - you mainly hear birds. Which is very nice when you are out there! You can see it on the left in the youtube gallery.

The green parrot from the last post - was sitting in a Mulberry tree. I tried some mulberries too - they were nice but a bit bland. But the parrots love them!

On the night of March 19th I was sitting in the garden of the hotel, and the moon was just huge. It turned out this was because the distance between moon and earth that night was the shortest for I think 18 years... only 356577 km...  it was the most beautiful and wonderful evening.

New Delhi - India

For the last 3 days I have been in Delhi. The climate shock is utterly and totally fascinating, as always. I left Holland in a winter skirt, tights, boots and a coat - and here it is about 30 degrees Celsius, and you can sit outside til late at night... Good breeze, full moon, great food.

The office is still the nicest place we have ever had in Delhi. It is on the second floor, and it has a huge terrace where we have our morning coffee and a lot of meetings.

Opposite is a park - and this time of the year there are many green parrots flying around, eating some kind of fruit from a tree that is now blooming.

I tried to capture one...  can you see it?

And then this is also the place to have nice vegetarian lunches.. the food here is always a pleasure.

Today was the Holi festival  - and even in my hotel they were playing holi (which i find funny - you don't celebrate it, you play it) by putting paint on all the guests and throwing paint in the air. I was warned so I came outside really late, but not late enough... so I got painted too.
A lot of people took pictures, so if I have one of these, I will post them.

LoFff in Belgium

We have a new shop selling LoFff in Belgium. Sometimes you meet the shopowner, and there is this pleasant feeling that her shop is going to do REALLY well. This is what I had with Virginie.

The name is perfect : La Princesse au petit Pois

Virginie was perfect (and totally in love with LoFff)

And her shopwindow is SO NICE!

The life of a designer - 3 seasons in one day

We are still in the middle of the deliveries for Summer 11. India is so very late this season, later than ever (and planning never was one of their primary skills...). One of the reasons for the delay is the fact that it was really cold in January, and there the buildings are not heated, so all the tailors stayed away from the factories. Now it is moist and rainy there, and the Z6530 petticoats with dip dyeing are ready, but need a few extra days to dry. No heating/drying rooms there either....

What can you do about that? Right, nothing...

Also we are still selling the Winter 2011 collection, and the production will start soon. So now I have to check the specsheets, decide what orders to give to which factory...

And then I have started designing for the S12 collection. The theme? Is still a secret, but it will be really nice and colourful like we want in summer seasons.

What made me most happy today? The picture of the shirt which we specially developed for the LoFff Africa drawing contest. Every month we give away these shirts to the best contestants... here it is.

Only available for the girls who enter the competition.
And yes... we have chosen the winner of February. Her name is Anouk, and she is 7 years old. And this is her, in her new LoFff outfit, and the beautiful drawing she made of this.

This kind of picture makes me happy...
